Vintage bicycle love: L'Eroica

For Brooks England I made (filmed, produced, edited) this report about the L'Eroica bike race. It is an incredible vintage bike lovers event that takes place in the small village Gaiole, situated in the Chianti wine area.

The non art of Mr. Brainwash

Yesterday I went to see the Banksy film production "Exit Through The Gift Shop". My jaw dropped when I realized that this film was actually about the French man Thierry Guetta. I met him two and a half years ago in London where he was constantly filming Shepard Fairey and told me that he is making the epic Street Art documentary. What I found out yesterday is that the tide has turned and Guetta, due to Banksy's advise, replaced the camera with a spraycan to become the street artist Mr. Brainwash.

In Berlinale Palast, I at first felt sick when that old man's voice over explained me in a history documentary style what and why street art is. But the more ironic the turnout of the story, the more ironic the voice over got. At the end of the movie I had to forgive the filmmakers for that horrible start. I understood the irony and was impressed by the dramaturgy and the entaglement of storylines. The film is released in UK cinemas at March 5th.
Here is a critical video from the opening of Mr. Brainwash's latest show. Here  and here is a report from a studio visit of Mr. Brainwash.

Reporting from Berlinale Talent Campus #8

Today is the second day of Berlinale Talent Campus #8 and me and the Deutsche Welle film team have already three reports online on the Arts 21 blog. The report that I made yesterday night about the Global Speed Matching is about to come online. In case that you live in Berlin come to the HAU until the 18th to join the lectures with filmmakers such as Steven Frears and Claire Denis.

CTM im WMF

Club Transmediale 2010 - Etienne Jaumet from Juli Fox on Vimeo.

Club Transmediale 2010 - The Modern Deep Left Quartet & Guests from Juli Fox on Vimeo.
To get my annual overview what the point of being is in nerd culture and electronic music, I visit the Club Transmediale. This year for the first time, it took place in WMF. I missed Dan Deacon's involving live show, Apparatjik's first live performance and a lot of other things. But the bids that I did see, were fun.
